Helping you do good, well.

We’re a small,
independent publisher...

These are things we're proud of, and we don't have any plans to change. Being small helps us have a personal connection to the work we produce, and being independent allows us full license in publishing the types of books we want, for the reasons we believe in. We're family. We're a team. We're passionate about what we do.

We're always open to new authors and projects, but we take on new projects intentionally, ensuring we are always able to provide continued support to our existing community of authors — to help them grow, challenge themselves, and live their purpose.

based in
Austin, Texas.

Another thing we're proud of, that we don't see changing any time soon.

Austin is a wonderfully inspiring city packed with creative minds that constantly push one to do more, better. Our goal is to work with Austin-based authors and creatives and help them bring a bit of the charm, free-thinking, and weirdness of our Big Little Town to the rest of the world. While Impetus is assisted by folks from a variety of geolocations, the Austin spirit burns bright in all of us.

We only have two rules.

We work with
passionate authors...

People who are brimming with good ideas. People who are driven by their heart and act with their mind. People who believe in people, embody a shared responsibility in societal good, and have dedicated their lives to seeing it happen. We find people who inspire us, and provide them with the means to inspire others.

& publish
powerful books.

Books that inspire change. Books that give people the tools to do good. Books that highlight inequity, challenge the status quo, and provide reasonable and actionable solutions for where we can go next. We believe social justice is attainable, but we believe it will only be accomplished through education and action.

We love what we do.

There is so much happening in the world, so many things that can distract us from what's important: people. It's easy to get so caught up in your life you lose touch with those around you, with their struggles and their triumphs, and with the ways you might be able to lend a hand. We love connecting people to people, and we do that through books.

It's amazing, the impact a book about an important subject can have on your disposition. It's our privilege to work with authors who are creating works that have that impact — the power to connect you with those around you in a way you may have otherwise missed out on. We love what we do.

Help us change the world.
